Week 7

We have officially arrived at the halfway point.

So far, our heads feel like the photo header of this post. Knots. Lots of knots. Through these first six weeks, we've had glimmers of understanding and moments of enlightenment. We've seen bits of information clearly and shared our vision in a sometimes comprehensible way.

The beauty of the knot is that all the pieces you need to straighten it out are right in front of you. You have the information you need and the resources that will help. All you need to do is start unpacking it and prioritize which pieces you will start with to maximize your efficiency. That describes exactly where we feel we are in the program.

We've seen the information we need to straighten things out at some point through these first six weeks. We have a plethora of resources available to us at the eFactory to help unpack this web of information. Now, as we begin are acceleration toward Demo Day (pun intended), we will begin untying the knots and develop a linear thought process to convey to the masses about our story.

The opportunity to do this over the next few weeks is exciting and daunting, inspiring and terrifying. And therein lies the beauty of this program. We get to experience these emotions with our fellow members. They should really revise the old saying to be, "It takes a village to raise a child....and to start a business."

Keep Hustling!

Week 6

A whirlwind.

That was what this past week has been. We started the week with some sickness, probably thanks to Missouri's ability to go from 80 degrees to snow in the span of 48 hours. We ended the week by securing three very important lunch appointments with three very important voices in the community. Things seem like they are only going to pick up from here.

A couple of weeks ago we shared a Forbes article that affirmed exactly what we are trying to help people do. We want to post it here too.

We are also incredibly inspired by Keith Ferrazzi's book Never Eat Alone. If you haven't read it, you should.

Anyhow, it's time to get back to work. Big week ahead for us.

Keep Hustling.

Week 5

As the sun sets on another week, it's insane to realize this point...

We are a third of the way through the Accelerator program.

It doesn't seem like that is even possible. The accelerator room still has the new smell in it...or maybe something's burning (right guys?!)....or maybe it's the turkeys. Who knows? Anyhow, it feels like we just started!

So much is happening every week it's hard to keep track of it all. For us, this past week is when things really started getting real. While much of the foundation is still being laid, we finally started getting out of the office and face to face with people to share our vision. We hope to get face to face with even more influencers in the coming weeks.

Thanks to our friends at The eFactory, The Network, and the amazing Springfield Chamber of Commerce for their incredible help. We launched our user market survey this week (which you can take here if you haven't yet). Our hope is to gather 300 responses to that survey by the end of March so that we have valid and reliable data to guide as through the app development. You can help us by sharing the survey with your friends and asking them to take 60 seconds to share their voice with us.

Oh yeah, by the way, the actual development of the app started this week as well, which is kind of a big deal.

All in all, it was another successful week, with way more coming up.

Keep hustling.

Week 4

25% complete.

We can hardly believe we are already a quarter of the way through this accelerator program. These first three weeks have been a whirlwind of lots of work, excellent ideas, little sleep, incredible presenters, and a ton of excitement for the future that lies before us.

Three weeks in and we have reached a point now where the rubber meets the road. A lot of internal and foundational work has been done to establish important pieces like mission, vision, values, target markets, and buyer personas. Now it's time to get out there and start engaging the community and incorporating their voice into the development of the app.

To start, you can help us in a huge way by taking a short survey here: Lunch Habits Survey

Our goal is to have more than 300 responses by March 24. So, especially if you are in the Springfield, MO area, please take this survey and encourage your friends to share their feedback too. Your voice is a critical piece to building an app that will serve you best.

We feel strongly that we are building a tool that will help people take important steps forward with their ability to build relationships that are lasting and meaningful. The resources in this accelerator are definitely helping us achieve that goal more quickly and efficiently...which is kinda the point.

Each week, when we hear an update on the progress from the fellow members in our cohort, our hunger for success and excellence grows. We hope to inspire and motivate our fellow cohort members as much as they inspire and motivate us.

Until next week, keep hustling.

Week 3

Now that week 2 is finished, we are starting to understanding the groove of the accelerator program. Granted, the “groove” feels more like a mosh pit where all you are really trying to do is stay on your feet and away from the big sweaty dude aimlessly flailing his arms, but it’s a groove nonetheless.

With every passing day the team-oriented attitude of everyone in this community, the eFactory community and the Springfield community, becomes more and more evident and astonishing. We business younglings in this cohort of the accelerator are in a building surrounded by other business younglings that have startups and small businesses they are developing with a million things on their plates. Yet, despite all of that, these people are consistently stopping in, giving up their time, energy, and ideas to help us find our footing. Who does that? Seriously?

When people think of business, the common phrases that come to mind are “Dog eat dog,” “Fend for yourself,” or “Look out for #1.” Not here. Not in this program. Not at the eFactory. Not in this community. For example, we had a business owner from cohort #1, which concluded less than six months ago spend over two hours with us telling us his story and answering our questions! (Thanks, Jason! https://eaglespeak.net/) Another day we had an accountant from one of the top 10 accounting firms in the country give up multiple hours on multiple days just to help us with accounting basics, give us ideas about our business, and help us troubleshoot problems we were facing. IT’S TAX SEASON, YOU GUYS! (Thanks, Jim! http://www.bkd.com/) Not to mention the lead mentor assigned to our company who is in a pretty important phase of his own startup. He will stop what he’s doing at the drop of a hat, take a call at 7:00 at night, and share more than he has to just to answer a simple question for us. (Thanks, Josh! http://www.cellaride.com/)

If you can’t tell, we are deeply humbled to be a part of this community. Our hunger for success continues to grow as we dream of being able to be in a position to give back just like those that have gone before us are doing each and every day.

Here’s to Week 3. Big things are in store.

Week 2

With Week 1 complete and Week 2 about to begin, there is a small window of time for some quick reflection. Here are the highlights from the introductory week of the program:

1. The sense of collaboration filling the eFactory is off the charts. Everyone wants to see everyone else succeed. This is why we feel like success is inevitable.

2. Feedback and great ideas abound. This is really just an extension of #1. Within the accelerator space, in just one week the feedback has been honest and constructive, which has moved all of us forward.

3. We couldn't be more thrilled with our lead mentor. The relationship we are developing is a true mentor relationship, with positive contributions already being too many to count.

4. COFFEE! We have access to the elixir of heaven for free from quality places like Brick and Mortar and The Coffee Ethic? Yes, Please!

5. So much cool stuff. Inside information about Springfield Business Development, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Government Contracts and Funding, Local Innovation Center, and more already in one week.

If Week 1 is any indication, we are in for the experience of a lifetime.

Week 2, bring it on!
